D'MAND® Hot Water System Plumbing Pipe Compatibility
The Hot Water D'MAND® System is incredibly easy to install and works with nearly all plumbing pipe types, including:
- Plastic plumbing pipe
- PEX plumbing pipe
- Copper plumbing pipe
- CPCV plumbing pipe
To install the D'MAND® Hot Water System, simply connect your hot and cold water supply lines together with the D'MAND® Hot Water Recirculation Pump at the farthest fixture from the water heater. Once you remove the angle stops, attach the custom brass compression T fittings (supplied in the kit). It is our goal to create the finest quality product possible. The D'MAND® System is designed to operate without any additional plumbing, pipes or special wiring. It’s an easy retrofit installation, especially now that it has been made modular. With the included compression fittings, there is no soldering or welding required. The only tools you need are: a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, and an electric drill (for installing the push button). Most plumbers can install the STS-70T in less than one hour while the STS-02T may take slightly longer. Or you can install it yourself to save money in less than two hours.
Once installed, the D'MAND® System works by circulating ambient (cool) water that normally goes down the drain back to the hot water heater through the cold water line. At the same time, it fills the hot water line with water from the water heater. When the hot water reaches the faucet the valve closes and the pump turns off automatically. The remote transmitter allows the D'MAND® System to be activated at any fixture on the hot water line up to 75' away, even through walls and doors.
